Shortly after an amazing family vacation in July, 2016, Bowen “Bo” Miles started complaining of leg pain, had a loss of appetite and would spike fevers randomly throughout the day. Finally on August 26, just 2 weeks after his 3rd birthday, after things seemed to be getting worse, he was taken to the emergency room. It was there that he was given the diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

His world was completely flipped upside down. Bo spent the next 10 days inpatient at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, while his mom and dad were meeting doctor after doctor, learning as much as they could about ALL and how this was going to affect their little family.

It has been almost 3 and ½ years since Bo’s diagnosis. He has endured over 944 doses of oral chemo, 346 doses of steroids, 59 rounds of intravenous chemo, 22 spinal taps, 15 blood transfusions, 3 bone marrow biopsies and way too many nights in the hospital. Most importantly, his family has received endless prayers, words of encouragement, support and love from friends and family.

Still, even after all that, Bo has continued to amaze everyone who knows him! He loves all things sports, but his favorite is baseball. He enjoys playing catch with his dad, Legos with his big brother, Leo, Pokémon cards with his friends, and still loves a good snuggle with his mom.

The Miles’ family is thrilled that Bo completed his treatment on November 3, 2019 and will ring the bell on November 8! They also can’t wait to start paying forward all the support, love and encouragement they received along the way!
