The 2013 MACC*STAR Ornament designed by Maggie Schlehlein

Maggie S. creator of the 2013 MACC*STAR Ornament
Maggie is 11 years old and lives in Germantown, Wisconsin with her mom and dad. She is in 5th grade at County Line Elementary School and excels in art, science and reading. Maggie is a big fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Milwaukee Wave.

Maggie with dollIn October 2009, Maggie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or ALL. This is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes too many immature lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell). With the help of the doctors, nurses, and other staff at the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Maggie bravely underwent treatment. Cheered on by her family and friends, Maggie completed treatment in January 2012.

Only going back to the MACC Fund Center now for monthly checkups, she leads the active life of an 11 year old! Maggie's newest interest is track and field. Her enthusiasm has a tendency to rub off on others, and this is no exception - she has inspired her dad to start running!

Maggie put her artistic talents to great use by designing the 2013 TODAY’S TMJ4 MACC*STAR Ornament, pictured on this page. An inspiration to us all, Maggie always has a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life!
