Meet Philip Gagnon

Philip

Like most kids his age, Philip likes to wrestle and play with his brothers. But one night, after playing, his parents noticed that there was blood in his urine. Concerned, his father took him to the ER where an ultrasound confirmed that he had Wilms tumor of the kidney. Within 24 hours, Philip's right kidney was removed, and he then underwent 19 weeks of chemotherapy. Just when his parents thought the worst was behind them, doctors found that the cancer had spread to Philip's right lung.

Exactly one year after he was first admitted, Philip was finally cleared by doctors. Now, after four years of clear scans, Philip is considered a cancer survivor! Philip dreams of becoming a nurse to help other children like him.
